"Whoops-i-daisy"

Blog

From being a clinician specializing in women’s wellness, to running my own bath and body company, I have had the unique experience of bringing together two worlds I feel passionate about. The common thread is how do we feel our best each and everyday. The idea behind this blog is to share useful, tried and true, accessible tidbits, to enhance various aspects of life by building balance between the body and the mind. We encourage you to rummage through these blog entries as you would a big box of tag-sale goodies in a church basement. Dig around and you may be pleasantly surprised to find something which helps smooth the odd bumps in your life’s journey.

Thanks for reading,

Kristina Ivy, Ph.D.

"Whoops-i-daisy"

Kristina Ivy

When my grandmother Vivi, the grand daughter of “Big Mama”, turned 105, I asked her for the umpteenth time, what her secret to longevity was. She replied for the umpteenth time: “I don’t make the mistake of worrying about things I can’t control”. Then, we split a piece of peach pie and watched a rerun of her favorite show, Dancing with the Stars”.

When I started RICA, a hundred people gave me a hundred reasons why my company would not work out. Some were practical, some numerical, some logical, some factual, some cynical, some mythical, and some were simply projections of a particular person’s own self-doubts. What got me through the gauntlet of naysayers was this: I believed in myself, the rest I’d figure out along the way. And so, I jumped in, made many different mistakes of every variety. I learned to love these mistakes for giving me the gift of experience and also for bringing me right back to what my grandmother had said; that the only mistake you don’t want to make is worrying about things you can’t control. Like Vivi, lets all live long, healthy and unafraid.
